ICBA PLAYOFFS & TIE-BREAKER SYSTEM

THE 2024-25 ICBA REGULAR SEASON IS SCHEDULED TO END ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd, 2024. ALL REGULAR SEASON SCORES MUST BE ENTERED INTO THE SYSTEM BY 11 PM ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd, 2024.

 

POSTSEASON MAY BEGIN ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2025. CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES MUST BE PLAYED BY MONDAY, MARCH 24th, 2025.

PLAYOFF SEEDINGS AND MATCHUPS WILL BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE BY THE END OF THE EVENING ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24th, 2025.

 

PLAYOFF DATES:

FIRST ROUND: FEBRUARY 26th TO March 5th

SECOND ROUND: March 6th TO MARCH 13th

CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES WILL BE PLAYED AT THE HIGHER SEED TEAM'S GYM/FACILITY AND CAN START BEING PLAYED ON FRIDAY, MARCH 14th, 2024. ALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES MUST BE PLAYED BY MONDAY, MARCH 24th, 2024. GAMES CAN BE PLAYED ON THE 24TH. 

THE HIGHER SEED IS ALWAYS THE HOME TEAM (FOR EXAMPLE: ONE SEED IS HOME TEAM IN A GAME VERSUS FOUR SEED). THE ICBA WILL BE USING ONE ASSIGNOR (JOE FURHMAN 1-609-456-1521 and email address is NJFCP@YAHOO.COM FOR ALL PLAYOFF GAMES AS FEEDBACK FROM LAST SEASON WAS TO USE INDEPENDENT OFFICIALS FROM THE REGULAR SEASON.  EACH TEAM WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENT FOR ONE OFFICIAL @ PLAYOFF AND CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. COST IS $50 PER OFFICIAL and payment will be coordinated with Joe Furhman.
 
EACH ORGANIZATION WHO HAS A HOME GAME FOR THE PLAYOFFS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CALLING JOE FURHMAN THE REFEREE ASSIGNOR SO THERE WILL BE TWO PIAA OFFICIALS PRESENT FOR THE PLAYOFF OR CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. 
 

HOME TEAM SHOULD PROVIDE AT LEAST TWO DATES (NOT ONE DATE WITH TWO TIMES) FOR THE VISITING TEAM TO WORK WITH. COORDINATOR FOR HOME TEAM MUST REPORT, VIA EMAIL, GAME TIME AND LOCATION TO THE LEAGUE, AND THEN CALL THEIR REFEREE ASSIGNOR WHEN ONE OF THE GAME DATE AND TIME OPTIONS HAS BEEN ACCEPTED BY THE VISITING TEAM. THERE MUST BE AT LEAST A 36-HOUR WINDOW BETWEEN PLAYOFF GAMES. FOR EXAMPLE: IF A TEAM WINS THEIR FIRST-ROUND PLAYOFF GAME ON MARCH 1, THEY CAN BUT DO NOT HAVE TO PLAY THEIR SECOND ROUND PLAYOFF GAME UNTIL MARCH 3 AT THE EARLIEST.
 
THE LEAGUE WILL NOT STEP IN IF A GAME TIME AND/OR DATE CANNOT BE AGREED UPON. THE VISITING TEAM OR LOWER SEED MUST ACCEPT AND SELECT FROM WHAT IS OFFERED BY THE HOME TEAM OR HIGHER SEED.  PLEASE PREPARE YOUR TEAMS TO BE READY TO PLAY DURING THE PLAYOFFS. 
 

THE TEAM THAT IS SCHEDULED TO BE THE VISITOR IS NOT TO OFFER A TIME ON THEIR HOME GYM AS AN OPTION FOR A GAME TIME. THE HIGHER SEED IS THE HOME TEAM AND WILL PROVIDE TWO DATES WITHIN THE TIME FRAME THE GAME IS TO BE PLAYED. THE VISITING TEAM MUST SELECT ONE OF THOSE DATES.

5. POINTS ALLOWED IN VICTORIES DURING REGULAR SEASON (LEAST AMOUNT PREVAILS)

6. POINTS ALLOWED IN LOSSES DURING REGULAR SEASON (LEAST AMOUNT PREVAILS)

THREE OR MORE TEAMS:
1.HEAD-TO-HEAD, WHEN APPLICABLE (EACH TEAM MUST HAVE PLAYED ALL TEAMS INVOLVED AT LEAST ONCE IN THE SCENARIO - WINNING PERCENTAGE PREVAILS AS LONG AS EVERYONE HAS PLAYED EACH OTHER AT LEAST ONCE IN THIS SCENARIO).

*IN TIEBREAKER SCENARIOS WHERE THERE ARE THREE OR MORE TEAMS: AFTER THE FIRST TEAM IS ELEVATED INTO THE HIGHER SEEDING, THE TIEBREAKER SYSTEM CONTINUES FROM THAT STEP IN THE THREE OR MORE TEAM SCENARIO (EVEN IF THERE ARE TWO TEAMS REMAINING), AND WILL BE CALCULATED UNTIL ALL SLOTS HAVE BEEN FIGURED OUT. YOU DO NOT GO BACK TO STEP ONE OR GO TO A DIFFERENT TIEBREAKER SCENARIO.
